Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition - How To Get The Ares 90 Skell
Apr 02, 2025 am 12:04 AMThere are several elements in "Legend of Blade X: Decision" that attract potential players, whether it is a combat system, a vast open world, or a host of characters. But one of the coolest elements of this game must be the giant robot that players can drive - Skells.
Skells are powerful combat tools, but among the many Skells in the game, there is a kind of standout: the Ares 90, which is powerful enough to instantly destroy almost any enemy on the Mira. This guide will provide a detailed look at all the materials you need to build the Ares 90 Skell.
Required materials
After completing Chapter 12 of the main story and regaining the core of Lifehold, you will gain the ability to develop a new Skell framework, one of which is the Ares 90. Although the difficulty is reduced in the Decision Edition, it is still one of the hardest lists of materials collected in the game, so we will cover each material and its best way to get it one by one.
After unlocking the Skell framework development capabilities, you will also unlock the Ares 70 Skell framework. Although it is easier to obtain, its damage and overall effectiveness are far less than Ares 90.
Golden Igralis Heart and Silver Vita Core
At first glance, we can see two direct questions: the heart of the Golden Igralis and the core of the Silver Vita. The reasons why these two materials are difficult to obtain are very different, so let's analyze them one by one.
Golden Igralis Heart can only be obtained by defeating the global archenemy Igralis Zero (along with Telethia Plume, one of two online bosses). In short, offline players cannot obtain such material without material vouchers in the online material market.
Even online players, it is difficult to get this material naturally, as it will only drop when your team lowers the RP of Iglaris Zero to zero. This is hard to do because if you wait too long before fighting Igralis Zero, its RP may drop to zero before you get into action, and you need to make sure your team composition can output enough damage within the time limit to lower Igralis' RP to zero.
On the other hand, there is another problem with Silver Vita Core: They only fall on one of the final bosses of the game, the Vita Mecha. So if you don't get the two silver Vita cores you need in the final chapter of the main story, you'll need to purchase these materials using material vouchers or brush the "Dark Matter Ghost" limited-time challenge mission.
Therefore, we recommend using material vouchers to purchase both materials. Other materials can also be purchased on the materials market, but it is much easier to get them in the game than both. However, these two materials are very expensive, with the Golden Igralis Heart requiring 1590 material vouchers and 475 material vouchers per Silver Vita Core.
Upgrade lenses and Seidel controls
The next two materials, eight upgraded lenses and four Seidel controls, are much easier to obtain than previous materials, and they can actually be found in the same place: on the Seidel enemies of Sylvalum and Cauldros.
Seidel enemies are most commonly found around the Ganglion camps in Sylvalum and Cauldros, and some of these tyrants also belong to this enemy category, such as Badul's Seidel in Sylvalum and Enhanced Attack Seidel in Cauldros.
Seidel controls are more rare than both materials, but since they are both found on the same enemies, just keep sweeping monsters until you have all the materials you need.
Advanced Core
The next material you need to make the Ares 90 Skell are six advanced cores that you can get by defeating Xe-dom enemies from all over Mira. These enemies are all over Sylvalum, they patrol the entire area, and there are also several deactivated Xe-doms in Cauldros, and they will attack you if you are too close to them.
These enemies can be a little hard to deal with if you fight weaker Skells or hikes, but using overload properly should easily solve hiking battles, while having a well-equipped Skell along with powerful skills and amplifications can make Skells battles easier to manage.
Crude Neil Nair mask
If you don't consider the unique way to obtain the Golden Igralis Heart and Silver Vita Core, then the six crude Neil Nair masks are the most difficult materials to obtain in the Ares 90, whether you're brushing naturally or buying with a material coupon.
If you want to get them naturally, you have to get them by defeating Neil Nair Skells. In the main game, you will only encounter four such enemies, two in Neil Nair's first intimacy mission and two in her second intimacy mission. If you want to fight more of these enemies, you must participate in the limited-time challenge mission "Mysterious Twin Dolls", which is a rare reward in this mission.
On the other hand, if you want to buy them with material vouchers, each crude Neil Nair mask requires 475 material vouchers, the same as the Silver Vita Core. However, unlike the Silver Vita Core, the Ares 90 requires six crude Neil Nair masks, while only two Silver Vita Cores require, a total of 2,850 material vouchers are required.
Simurian Cinnabar
Unlike the rest of the materials needed to make the Ares 90 Skell, there is only one way to get Simurian cinnabar: mining through FrontierNav.
You can mine Simonian cinnabar by placing mining detectors at the following FrontierNav locations in Noctilum: FN Location 202, FN Location 203, FN Location 207 and FN Location 217. You only need two of this material to make the Ares 90, so it's enough to just place an advanced mining detector in one location or create a series of mining detectors around that location.
Milanim
The last and arguably the most important resource needed to make the Ares 90 Skell, and one of the most common resources in the game: Milanim. Every time you set up a detector on Mira, the detector starts mining Miranim, and it can increase its output by placing a mining detector on the planet.
The problem is not about getting the milanims itself, but about having enough storage to accommodate all the milanims. For the Ares 90, you need 100,000 mranim to pay for its development costs. The only way to have enough capacity to accommodate so many Milanims is to build a large chain of storage detectors on your FrontierNav map.
Once your storage limit reaches at least 100,000, just play the game while your detector mines Milanim for you in the background. You need to actively play games to get these detectors to mine, so putting the controller for an hour won't help. In the meantime, just focus on other tasks or get other materials.
Once you have obtained all of this material through your own efforts, your reward will be well worth your efforts. The Ares 90 can output such a huge amount of damage even without any damage increase that it can eliminate almost all enemies in the game with its Aghasura Cannon strike, which makes it easier to brush materials and greatly improve your overall combat capability.
