Real People Using AI And More From Microsoft's Copilot 50th Anniversary Event
Apr 09, 2025 am 12:54 AMMicrosoft Copilot 50th Anniversary Celebration: AI Assistant Enters Life
It should be noted that this is not Copilot's 50th anniversary. This type of AI capability has only been around for five years, and many of the functions displayed at the celebration have made new breakthroughs. Microsoft chose to designate the event as "The Birth of AI Partners" to commemorate the company founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in 1975, and took this opportunity to launch Copilot.
Given that Copilot is still new to many people, it is timely that the event organizer and CEO of Microsoft AI, Mustafa Suleiman, chose to use real user stories as the main line.
Neighborhoods, friends and users
During the event, a group shared their Copilot experience. Among them are Chris Sueh (with his dog Juni, a Newfoundland) and Elvira. Elvira tells how Copilot solves the power problems at her and her husband's home.
Suh shared how he used Copilot to help his neighbors solve the problem of dogs getting along with his dog Juni, and learned related dog training methods.
He mentioned that Copilot can effectively organize information and help people find the best way to solve important tasks and projects. Copilot can also help people learn skills privately that they are reluctant to learn or try publicly.
“The future is unpredictable,” he said, “grasp the present.”
Elvira tells how she used Copilot to solve the power problem of the train model room in her husband's home.
With Copilot, she was able to obtain the knowledge she needed in ways that traditional Google searches could not reach.
“All my worries have disappeared,” she said, “the road ahead is full of unimaginable wonders and discoveries.”
Elvilla (and Chris)’s story reflects the new model being reshapes the way it searches. For us who are accustomed to clicking hyperlinks to find information, it is shocking that models such as ChatGPT or Copilot can search the entire network in seconds and give authoritative answers. Now, with the aid of reasoning power, they can even think when testing, which makes them even more powerful in providing answers to human users.
The power of change in AI
In the subsequent demonstration, Suleiman had a conversation with Copilot, demonstrating the model’s impressive capabilities (and its willingness to please humans).
Various shapes and patterns appeared on the screen, including a proud peacock and some modern-style patterns, while Copilot adopted different tones of dialogue, even mysterious whispers.
This allows those unfamiliar with current AI capabilities to understand how these models fit into our world and interact with us in extraordinary ways.
Popularization of AI
What this event made me think about is how this will expand the audience of autonomous AI.
Sometimes we need to take a step back and realize that industry insiders have used this technology for years. But all of this can be very novel for those who don’t know much about technology. Just a few weeks ago, Google released the Gemini terminal device version. We know that soon we will have these models in our pockets. Copilot's demonstration may be an important way for more people to experience this technology.
