The existence of the Switch 2 has been recently confirmed by Nintendo, and as such, a release date for the Switch successor has yet to be confirmed or announced. Previously, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said they intend to make an announcement regarding the Switch 2 within the current fiscal year ending on March 31, 2025. And finally, on January 16, 2025, Nintendo has officially confirmed the Switch 2 in the form of a teaser trailer. However, an asterisk in the announcement clarifies that "certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2," with additional details to be shared on the Nintendo website later.
