NYT Connections Sports Edition today: Hints and answers for June 11, 2025
Jun 12, 2025 am 10:07 AMConnections: Sports Edition is a sports-themed version of the popular New York Times word game, designed to challenge fans of athletic competition.
As with the original Connections, the game focuses on identifying "common links among words." Much like Wordle, Connections refreshes each day at midnight, and the puzzles grow increasingly difficult—so we’ve prepared some hints and advice to help you push through tough spots.
If you're simply looking for today’s solution, scroll to the end of this article for the full breakdown. But if you prefer to tackle it yourself, keep reading for clues, tips, and strategies to guide your way.
What is Connections Sports Edition?
This new daily word game from the NYT was launched in partnership with The Athletic, a subsidiary of the New York Times that handles its sports reporting. Connections can be played via web browsers or mobile apps, and requires players to group together four words that share a common theme.

Each puzzle consists of 16 words, divided into four distinct groups. These sets could include anything from musical instruments, historical events, or famous names. Although some words may seem like they belong together, only one grouping is correct.
Once all four words in a set are guessed correctly, they disappear from the board. A wrong guess counts as an error—players are allowed up to four mistakes before the game ends.

You can also shuffle the words around the board to make spotting patterns easier. Each category is color-coded, with yellow being the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. As with Wordle, you can post your results to social media after completing the puzzle.
