As it stands today, the game is making a comeback in the form of Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, and this time around it's being published by A Plus, who are aiming for a global free-to-play release this year. The launch will include Steam and the Epic Games Store for PC, as well as iOS and Android platforms, marking its first appearance outside of China.

To be clear, this isn't exactly the same game as before but rather an expansion of the Blue Protocol universe, offering “a vibrant MMORPG experience” according to the description on its official Steam page. In other words, it may finally become the game many were hoping for when it was first announced.

I personally never had the chance to try it out back then, so I’m quite excited about the opportunity to give it a proper shot this time. I really enjoy the visual style, and the idea of fast-paced combat set in an anime-inspired MMO world sounds incredibly appealing.

It’s worth mentioning though that the game will also be available on mobile platforms such as the Google Play Store and iOS App Store, which you can interpret however you like.

At first glance, this doesn’t necessarily have any negative implications—games like Genshin Impact remain very popular and successful despite being on mobile. However, there are plenty of examples where catering to mobile audiences has led to compromises that affect the PC experience. Only time will tell how this one plays out.

I’ve already added Blue Protocol: Star Resonance to my wishlist and signed up for early access. I plan to check it out thoroughly and share my thoughts once I get the chance to play it myself. Fingers crossed that a console version might arrive someday too!
