Early on in your journey through Dune: Awakening, you'll gain access to a sub-fief. One of the most important aspects of gameplay that comes into play when building your base is power. Keeping your base powered is essential—not only for crafting and refining materials, but also for having a secure shelter to retreat to during sandstorms and other dangers.
However, maintaining a consistent and effective power supply for your sub-fief isn't always simple. If you're looking for the best ways to keep your base running smoothly, here's everything you need to know to keep your sub-fief operating at its best.
How To Power Your Sub-Fief
When it comes to powering your sub-fief, your power needs can vary depending on what you're doing.
Fuel Generators
Fuel Generators are the simplest and most affordable option for powering your sub-fief, and they’re the first method you’ll learn how to use.
Fuel Generators produce 75 power for your sub-fief and must be supplied with Fuel Cells in order to keep running.
Turbines
If you'd rather not constantly refill Fuel Generators, your next best option is to build Turbines to keep your base powered.
There are two types of Turbines available in Dune: Awakening.
Turbine Type | Pros | Cons |
---|---|---|
Omnidirectional | - Generates power automatically - Minimal materials needed | - Same power output as a Fuel Generator - Requires lubricant to operate |
Directional | - Produces 350 power - Resistant to sandstorm damage | - Much more expensive to build - Requires Spice - Needs lubricant to function |
As shown above, Turbines come with advantages and drawbacks. The main benefit is that they generate power automatically.
Still, you will eventually need to have lubricant available to keep them running.
Spice-Powered Generator
Finally, you can also build a Spice-Powered Generator to help supply power to your sub-fief. This is by far the most powerful generator, producing 1,000 power.
It’s quite expensive to construct, though, and still requires Fuel Cells—but not just any kind. You'll need to use Spice-Infused Fuel Cells instead.
What Happens If You Don't Power Your Sub-Fief
Failing to power your sub-fief leads to several serious consequences.
- Base Shields Fail
- Machines Stop Working
- Base Structure Degradation
Without power, your base's shields will deactivate, allowing anyone to enter. Obviously, this is a major issue.
In addition, sandstorms will begin to degrade your base, meaning repairs will be necessary once power is restored.
Lastly, you won’t be able to use fabricators, refineries, or other equipment without power.
Ultimately, keeping your base powered is crucial to survival on Arrakis, so make sure it remains your top priority.
