ForbesToday’s ‘Wordle’ #1470 Hints, Clues And Answer For Saturday, June 28thBy Erik KainAnother lazy Sunday and boy do I need it after this Saturday. I decided to do back-to-back hot yoga and a HIIT class at OrangeTheory and while that felt great, it’s also left me sore and tired and very much feeling my age. But enough about pumping iron and getting swole—let’s solve this Wordle!
How To Solve Today’s Wordle
The Hint: Clever.
The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter.
Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming!

The Answer:
Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
TREAD left me with 146 words and just one yellow box, so that could have been better. HOIST (which the Wordle Bot told me afterwards was exactly the word it would have picked) slashed that number to 7, but I still had just two yellow boxes. I thought MINTY sounded nice, so I went with that. Unfortunately, it was not a great guess, leaving me with four options to choose from. I guessed WITTY and lucky for me, that was the Wordle!
Competitive Wordle Score
The Bot and I get 0 points today for guessing in four and tying one another. That leaves our June totals at:
Erik: 20 points
Wordle Bot: 10 points
At this point, the Wordle Bot cannot win. I could fail to guess the Wordle (-3 points) and it could guess on its first try ( 3 points) and our totals would be 17 to 13. Huzzah! I am the king of the Wordle!
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word witty comes from Old English wittig, meaning “wise” or “intelligent,” derived from wit, which originally meant “knowledge” or “understanding.” Wit traces back to the Proto-Indo-European root *weyd-, meaning “to see” or “to know.” By the 16th century, witty evolved to mean clever or quick with words, especially in a humorous way.
