If you are using the latest version of macOS Big Sur operating system, you may encounter problems that you cannot turn off Do Not Disturb mode.
macOS Big Sur users report that this annoying bug will appear after Do Not Disturb mode is automatically turned on. This means you won't receive any notifications at all, which can be a big problem in the telecommunication era.
The following is the solution:
First, make sure this is a bug
Big Sur is visually very different from the previous Catalina system, so it is easy to get lost. Before taking major steps to resolve the bug, make sure you have not accidentally activated Do Not Disturb mode by yourself.
To check this, click the Notification Center icon in the upper right corner of the screen (looks like two toggles). In the upper right corner of the menu that appears, you will see the Do not disturb mode button , which is purple when turned on. Click it to turn off this feature.

If nothing happens, or if you find that the button is not purple (even ifDo not disturb the moon icon is clearly visible in the top menu bar), then you are dealing with a bug and it's time to ask for help.
Close Notification CenterApple has not issued any official statement on this bug, but users found it related to a failure in the notification center. Restarting the application will resolve the issue immediately.
There are two ways to solve this problem.
Find the
Activity Monitor by Spotlight (command space key). This application will show you all processes currently running on your machine, even those running in the background. Find the Notification Center in the list, click it to select, and then click the X button at the top of the window to stop the process. This should turn off Do Not Disturb mode and restore your notifications.
If for some reason you cannot access the Activity Monitor, you can restart the Notification Center viaTerminal . Use Finder or search via Spotlight. Once opened, you will see a window containing commands that look scary, similar to the movie The Matrix, which may be scared if you are new to you. Don't worry - enter "killall NotificationCenter" and press Enter.

The command sounds fierce, but it's exactly the same as stopping the process from the Activity Monitor. The moment you press Enter, Do Not Disturb mode should be turned off.If you don't have time to deal with any of these solutions, users also report that using any app full screen can solve this problem, although not permanent. If you are using Google Chrome, press the Control Command F key to enter full screen mode and press again to exit. If you are using Firefox, the Shift Command F key can achieve this, pressing this key combination again can restore normality. You can also click on the green circle in the upper left corner of any application window and select "Enter Full Screen Mode" in the menu to change its screen assignment.
