It’s hard to believe there was a time before The Fracture in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but there were many people just living their own lives without much worry. Just west of Old Lumiere, you will find a rather sad and destroyed portion of the city, but with it is a potential spirit just hanging out. It’s in a bit of a bind as he doesn’t quite understand the concept of death and yearns for something. It doesn’t quite understand what. It’s up to you to investigate and hopefully give this spirit some peace.
The Maze Solution
The maze inside the Esoteric Ruins has a little bit of a puzzle surrounding it. It’s not as simple as going in a certain direction, but instead you will need to interact with the glowing orbs that open and close specific doorways.
The maze itself is set up in a 3x3 square, each of the tiles having an orb, but some of them only open specific doorways based on where your blast is redirected. Because of this, this makes things a little more complicated, but it’s still not too bad. We’ve included an image that hopefully will help give you a better idea of where to go.
For this, we’ve set up the path of where to go along with what orbs need to be struck. The first will always be the first orb from the entrance, with the second being the southwest room. This will open up the west room, which you should interact with to open up the pathway all the way to the east. Skip the middle room and strike the east room, unlocking the doorway south. Head back to the first room you came in (south) and hit the orb once again. At this point, you should have a pathway to the middle tile by going clockwise. Hit the middle room’s orb and this will unlock the remaining rooms to the east, northeast and north. And that’s all there is to it.
Once you’re out, there’s to the left and right of your position, and some Wood Boards on the rooftop of the downed building. This is the key item you need to complete the quest for the spirit. Since the maze closed its doors, you will need to go up onto the buildings and then jump across the cliffside. Return to the spirit and give him the Wood Boards to complete the quest, with the option of taking down the newly named Portier.
