How to Pair Sony's DualSense Controller to Your Android Phone Over Bluetooth or USB Cable
May 15, 2025 am 09:19 AMThe gaming experience on smartphones has improved significantly since the release of Impossible Games and the original version of Temple Escape. The depth of mobile games can be comparable to console and PC games, but some games require external controllers to get the best gaming experience. The DualSense wireless controller from the PlayStation 5 is a great choice, and it is compatible with most Android devices.
Why connect DualSense to your phone?
Connecting the DualSense wireless controller to your Android phone allows you to experience a console-like gaming feel on a portable screen, and it is suitable for any Android game that supports wireless controllers. While DualSense's touchpad functionality is different from its performance on a PlayStation host, vibration feedback (tactile) may not work properly, if you are used to DualSense, your gaming will be more efficient.
Despite some shortcomings, games like Call of Duty Mobile and GRID Autosport make the most of the gamepad. The gameplay of these two games is very similar to their original version on the console.
In addition to Android-based games, Sony provides an app called PS Remote Play on the Play Store. This app allows you to connect your phone or tablet to your PS4 or PS5 console via Wi-Fi or mobile data, thus streaming the game to your palm. Sony introduced DualSense compatibility for Android 12 devices, and the Remote Play experience is the same as the host, including working vibration feedback, a touchpad, adaptive triggers, motion sensors, and battery indicators.
If you are sharing your TV with others, Remote Play is a great feature because your "TV" is the display of your phone. However, the setup process is different from pairing a DualSense wireless controller only for Android games. If you are interested in playing PS4 or PS5 games on your phone, check out our guide to learn how to use PS Remote Play for remote gaming. To use the controller in Android games, follow the steps below to set it up.

What do you need to prepare before you start?
Sony specifies that the DualSense controller is suitable for Android 12 devices, but does not mention Android 11 devices. However, most phones running Android 11 can be paired with DualSense via Bluetooth or USB-C cable, and there is no problem playing games or navigating your phone, so your phone should work properly, too. Android 12 just brings official support to Sony's PS Remote Play service.
Disconnect DualSense from your host
Make sure the player lights (the light between the touchpad and speaker) on the DualSense controller are turned off before attempting to pair. If the light is on, press and hold the PS button directly below the touchpad until it is turned off. Also, if your DualSense is connected to a USB cable, unplug it.
Turn on DualSense pairing mode
To enable DualSense pairing mode, press and hold the "Create" and "PS" buttons at the same time until the light bars on the left and right sides of the touchpad start to flash. The “Create” button is located on the left side of the touchpad, above the direction button, and the “PS” button is located right in the center below the touchpad.
When the light flashes, your DualSense controller has entered pairing mode, and you have about two minutes to finish pairing before it automatically exits pairing mode.
Turn on Bluetooth on your Android phone (if not already enabled)
Please make sure your Android phone is Bluetooth enabled. You can check it out by using the Quick Settings menu or directly entering the Settings app.
In the Settings app, click Connected Devices (for Pixel, certain LG models, etc.), Connect (for Samsung models), or similar options. If you see the Bluetooth switch right away, make sure it is on. If not, you may need to look up further. For example, on a Pixel model running Android 12, go to Connection Preferences and select Bluetooth to find the switch.
Search and pair PS5 controllers
Now it's time to find the DualSense controller and pair it up. If you are using a Pixel, from the Bluetooth or Connected Devices menu, click Pair New Devices. For other Android phones, you may need to do it in the Bluetooth menu.
Whether you're on the Bluetooth menu or the Pair New Devices screen, you should see a list of all available Bluetooth devices it detects. The DualSense controller should appear in the pairable device list with a name similar to "Wireless Controller". After establishing the connection, you can rename the controller to whatever name you want, but now, click the name of the DualSense controller to pair both devices.
When the DualSense controller's light bar flashes briefly and turns a steady blue color, and the player indicator light is on, you know that the DualSense controller is correctly paired.
Once pairing is successful, you can connect to the DualSense controller more easily later. Simply press the PS button and select your controller from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone. However, wireless pairing will not work after DualSense is reconnected to the PS5.
Alternative: Use cable connection
If you don't want to use Bluetooth to pair your phone and DualSense controller, you can use a USB-C to USB-C cable. Plug one end into the controller and the other end into the phone. Your phone should automatically detect the device and turn it on, with the same function as a wireless connection – just less setup process.

Navigate your phone with DualSense controller
Now your DualSense controller can navigate your phone like you do on the PS5, so you can use it to do more than just play games. Here is an introduction to your controller's operation on Android:

方向按鈕(D-pad): 在選項之間移動左搖桿: 在選項之間移動? 按鈕: 退出當前屏幕X 按鈕: 選擇△ 按鈕: 添加空格□ 按鈕: 刪除空格觸摸板/ 觸摸板按鈕: 用作鼠標光標;按下或輕觸以選擇

Improve your DualSense gaming experience on Android
Playing games with a controller is much better than using touch controls alone, but you have to put your phone down to play unless you have accessories that can fix your phone. Your best bet is to equip the DualSense controller with a phone stand to keep the gaming experience as portable as possible.
We recommend OIVO's PS5 hanger clip for DualSense controllers, because this hanger clip is strong and maintains a good distance between the controller and the phone, and does not block the USB-C port on the controller in case you want to use a wired connection instead of Bluetooth. OIVO also offers a cheaper model. Both models come with a phone stand in case you don't want to hold the extra weight on your hands. Both models are suitable for PS Remote Play.

OIVO's PS5 clamp is suitable for DualSense controllers.
Other options include a phone case with built-in horizontal stand that can support the phone anywhere, and a simple phone dock that is slightly bulky but probably more sturdier and adjustable.

Which games use DualSense's exclusive features?
Android-based games won't usually support the more advanced features of DualSense, but when connected with PS Remote Play, vibration feedback, adaptive triggers, and touchpad will work for PS5 games as expected. While some PS5 games won't let you use all the features, many games do. Here is a short list of games that take advantage of the DualSense functionality:
- Return
- Ghost Warrior
- Ricky and Clenchy: Between the cracks
- Marvel Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Concrete Elves
- Call of Duty: War Zone
