How to Disable the Pull-Down Quick Settings Menu on Your Pixel 4's Lock Screen

Jun 19, 2025 am 09:22 AM

On Android, there's a flaw that Google appears reluctant to address — anyone can access the Quick Settings panel from your lock screen. This menu contains switches for GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, which are essential for tracking your phone if it gets stolen. Fortunately, Xposed offers a way to close this security gap.

This solution builds on an earlier module developed by char101, effectively blocking all access to Quick Settings when your device is locked. You'll still be able to view notifications and control media playback — unless Android 11 moves those controls into the Quick Settings as well.

Requirements

  • Google Pixel 4 or 4 XL rooted with Magisk
  • Xposed for Magisk installed

Install Riru Core

Since this is an Xposed module, you’ll need the Xposed Framework to run it. The installation involves three steps. Start by opening Magisk, tapping the hamburger menu, selecting "Downloads," and searching for riru. Choose "Riru (Riru-Core)" from the search results, install it, then restart your phone.

Install EdXposed

Next, you’ll need to install EdXposed. Just like before, go to the Download section in your Magisk Manager app and search for it. There are two versions available: SandHook and YAHFA. Begin with SandHook, but if issues arise, you can uninstall it and switch to YAHFA.

Install EdXposed Manager

To complete the setup, you'll need EdXposed Manager, which enables you to manage modules. Use the link below to install the latest version of the app directly onto your Google Pixel 4 or 4 XL.

  • Download EdXposed Manager (.apk)

Install NoQSInLockScreen (P4 Mod)

Now comes the final step — installing the actual Xposed module that restricts Quick Settings access on the lock screen. This was adapted by developer i5lee8bit from char101’s original work and shared on XDA. Download the APK using the link below, then sideload it just like any other third-party app.

  • Download NoQSInLockScreen (P4 Mod) for Xposed (.apk)

Once installed, open EdXposed Manager. Tap the hamburger menu in the top-left corner and select "Modules." You should now see "NoQSInLockScreen (P4 Mod)." Turn on the toggle next to it, then tap the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner, choose "Reboot," and then click "Reboot to System."

Test It Out

Go to your lock screen and try swiping down. You won’t be able to open the Quick Settings anymore. But once you unlock your phone, all the toggles will be accessible again — exactly how it's supposed to work!
