Kucoin appoints two high-profile executives to complete its European leadership team

Global cryptocurrency exchange Kucoin recently completed the formation of its European leadership team, appointing two highly-watched executives.
This personnel change is part of Kucoin’s accelerated layout in the EU market, especially in response to the upcoming cryptoasset management regulations (MICAR). Currently, the company is advancing the relevant licensing process through the Austrian Financial Markets Authority (FMA) and introducing senior experts from traditional finance and crypto to strengthen its management.
Kucoin EU is currently actively communicating with the FMA to achieve full compliance operations with the goal of providing a complete cryptocurrency service within the European Economic Area (EEA). At this stage, the company has not yet conducted business within the EU or EEA, and will officially launch services after obtaining the corresponding license.
Christian Derler is appointed as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Kucoin EU and Managing Director of Kucoin EU Financial Services. Derler will be responsible for driving business development, sales, marketing and growth strategies. Previously, he served as a member of the Management Committee at BKS Bank and accumulated over twenty years of senior management experience in institutions such as the Austrian Bank Group and Creditanstalt.
"The arrival of Derler will help Kucoin further expand its influence in the European market and help the company cope with the complex regulatory environment," the spokesperson said.
Also joining the leadership team is Tamara Rubey, who was appointed General Counsel and Managing Director of Kucoin's EU Payment Services. Rubey has rich legal experience in payment and encryption regulation. He has worked in many financial technology companies such as PSA, Coinpanion and Bitpanda, leading the construction of legal and compliance systems.
At Kucoin EU, she will be fully responsible for legal affairs and report directly to the CEO. Her professionalism will play a key role in the company's response to MICAR compliance.
With the addition of these two executives, Kucoin EU's leadership team has been fully in place, including CEO Oliver Stauber. Together, they will work to build Kucoin as Europe's leading cryptocurrency trading platform.
Stauber welcomed the new members: “Christian brings deep experience in the financial industry, while Tamara has strengthened our legal and regulatory strength, and their participation is crucial to our future development.”
As one of the top ten cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, Kucoin is applying for a digital asset brokerage license in Austria, planning to provide European retail and institutional users with a full range of services including transactions and custody.
