Jun 13, 2025 am 10:03 AMForbesToday’s NYT Strands Puzzle: Hints, Spangram And Answers For Thursday, June 12thBy Erik Kain
Double-check your dates, dear Strandistas, because today is the day of misfortune and chaos—Friday the 13th. If you're into superstitions, this is the day for ominous vibes and uneasy feelings. The last Friday the 13th was in December 2024, and we won’t see another one this year. Let's use that eerie energy to crack today’s Strands puzzle!
Strands is the latest addition to the New York Times’ collection of puzzle games. It gives a fresh spin on traditional word searches. Each day brings a new theme, and players must locate all the theme-related words hidden in the grid, including a spangram that stretches from one side of the puzzle to the other. One of these words is the spangram, which connects two opposite sides of the board and further explains the theme.
Spoilers ahead.

Today’s Strands Breakdown
This puzzle had quite a few words, though not as many as yesterday’s. Surprisingly straightforward—or maybe my brain is finally clicking into gear before I take a break from writing these guides for a couple weeks. Either way, I spotted POPPY quickly, followed by PETUNIA. Once I saw ‘AZ,’ I knew AZALEA would be somewhere in the mix, even if it took me a moment to trace it out. Then there was LILY, practically waving at me. I found FLOWERGIRLS next—the spangram—and then ROSE and VIOLET, leaving only DAISY to collect.
