To unlock advanced tech tree paths and more varied lifepaths for Alters, upgrading the Quantum Computer is necessary. Therefore, retrieving those lost components becomes crucial for surviving the dangerous planet and escaping it. Here's everything you need to know about boosting the QC's power.

How To Raise The Qubit Level of the Quantum Computer

To upgrade the Quantum Computer, you must locate and fix a Qubit Chip. One can be found in Act 1, with two more appearing in Act 2, both hidden inside abandoned cargo pods scattered across the map. Unless you're dangerously close to Sunrise and running out of time, it’s best to stay on a map until all chips have been collected.

These Qubit Chips were damaged during the crash and must be repaired at the Workshop. This takes 20 Metals, 20 Minerals, and naturally the damaged chip itself. Once the repair is complete, the Qubit Chip will be automatically installed the next time you access the Quantum Computer.

What Happens When You Boost The Qubit Level?

Creating New Alters

The maximum number of Alters available is displayed at the bottom of the lifepath interface within the Quantum Computer menu. A filled diamond indicates an Alter already created, while an empty one shows a slot still open for a new Alter.

The more distant an Alter’s story is from Jan Prime’s, the higher the Qubit level needed to generate them. For example, the Refiner can be made at Qubit Level 1, but the Worker needs Level 2, and the Guard requires Level 3.

Research Levels Available The Scientist can only study technologies up to the same tier as the current QC Qubit Level. If there are no more options left to research, he'll be unable to proceed further until you install a newly repaired Qubit Chip.
