Broken ARROW: Unit Stats, Explained

Jun 19, 2025 am 02:02 AM

Broken Arrrow brings a high level of realism to its RTS gameplay. Weapons are specifically designed to counter certain threats, and they do so with lethal efficiency. If you're not prepared for what's coming, your meticulously assembled battlegroup can be destroyed in an instant.

Broken Arrow: Unit Stats, Explained

To truly master the game, you must first understand each unit at your disposal, which includes knowing their stats. This guide explains what each stat represents and how it influences your strategy. It’s recommended to keep this open as a reference while playing until you've memorized the details.

Unit Stats

Broken Arrow: Unit Stats, Explained

A unit's stats define its overall performance, regardless of the weapon it carries. These stats establish baseline abilities like movement speed and damage resistance.

Optics And Stealth

Line of sight plays a crucial role in Broken Arrow. In many cases, recon units are needed to spot targets for artillery and other long-range units. A unit’s visibility is governed by Optics and Stealth.

  • Optics, marked by a binoculars icon, indicates the maximum distance in meters at which the unit can detect an enemy.
    • The Optics value shows the unit's vision range for spotting ground units. Hovering over the icon reveals different detection ranges for airborne units at low and high altitudes. Each unit has unique ratios, so there's no universal formula.
  • Stealth, shown with a crossed-out eye icon, affects how easily enemy units can detect this one. Higher Stealth means enemies must be closer to see the unit.

Movement Speed is essential for reaching objectives quickly and securing them before the enemy does. Transport vehicles are often necessary to move slower units efficiently across the battlefield.

Movement speed is always indicated by an arrow next to the unit type; whether infantry, vehicle, or aircraft. Infantry moves the slowest but can use the Sprint ability (default key Z) for a temporary speed boost.

  • Ground Vehicles also have a Reverse Speed stat. They move significantly slower in reverse, but often need to back up when repositioning or retreating while firing.
  • Planes feature a Turn Radius stat; the higher it is, the tighter the turns they can make, allowing more frequent passes or faster target switching. They also have a maximum fuel limit; if you don’t recall them before running out, they'll have to make an emergency landing.
  • Helicopters have an Agility stat similar to Turn Radius, which helps them dodge fire and respond to new commands swiftly.

Transport

Strategic planning when assembling your Battlegroup ensures you always have a way to deploy your forces effectively—smart use of transport units is vital.

Each unit has a weight value listed on the far right of its stat panel. Transport aircraft display a maximum weight capacity using a cargo container icon; if the total loaded weight exceeds this, the transport cannot take off.

When transporting infantry, you must also consider seating capacity, whether moving by land or air. Multiple squads can load into a single transport, provided the total number doesn't exceed seating limits. Weight restrictions still apply as previously described.

Armor And Health

Units typically have limited hit points (represented by a cross icon); if a weapon penetrates their armor, it can destroy them quickly.

Weapon Stats Broken Arrow: Unit Stats, Explained

Units can be equipped with various weapons when building your deck, enabling you to tailor your Battlegroup for expected enemy types.

A weapon's effectiveness depends on the ammunition type it uses. While units can fire multiple weapons simultaneously, each weapon fires only one ammunition type.

Basic Stats

You can view a round’s basic stats directly on the unit's panel in the Army Builder: Penetration, Damage, and Effective Range.

  • Penetration, represented by a broken shield icon, is compared against the target's Armor. If the Penetration equals or exceeds the Armor value, full damage is dealt; otherwise, it's reduced proportionally.
    • Penetration comes in Kinetic (white) or Explosive (orange). Armor only protects against matching types. Most Ground Vehicles have both types of Armor, while other unit types only have Kinetic Armor.
  • Damage, shown with a skull icon, indicates how much health a unit loses when hit by fully penetrating fire. Explosive rounds damage all units within their blast radius.
  • Accuracy, displayed with a crosshairs icon, shows the optimal effective range of the weapon. Accuracy decreases as the target moves further away, up to the weapon's maximum range.

Advanced Stats

During combat, selecting a unit's panel reveals more detailed weapon stats. Of particular importance are Aim Time and Reload Time; Aim Time is how long it takes the unit to fire once it has a target, while Reload Time is how long it takes to reload after the weapon is empty. Combined, these values indicate how frequently the weapon can fire when supplied with ammunition.

The Supply Weight of each round also matters; resupply crates replenish ammo, but heavier rounds consume more supplies. If heavy weapons teams are holding a critical position, it's wise to deploy larger supply crates to keep them operational.
