Broken Arrow pits the military forces of America and Russia against each other in a fictional war, highlighting the most advanced weapons and elite units each country has to offer. For the United States, this means access to cutting-edge technology and specialized combat forces.
Even small adjustments to your Battlegroup can drastically affect mission outcomes in Broken Arrow. Each unit performs best when used in the correct context. If you're unsure what to choose, these recommended American units from each category are solid picks.
Recon
US Recon units are capable of dealing significant damage, but their main strength lies in identifying and marking enemy positions for laser-guided airstrikes.
USMC Scout Snipers
Scout Snipers are fragile, operating in pairs, but they have the best Optics among ground units in their class and a Stealth rating of 3, making them effective when hidden in forests or buildings.
Their high-powered rifles deliver strong Penetration and Damage, making them deadly against infantry and light vehicles. Their real advantage, however, is their ability to get close and mark targets with lasers, even by paradropping if needed.
MQ-9 Reaper / MQ-1C Gray Eagle
These drones serve as an excellent counterpart to Scout Snipers or any laser-designating unit. Drone strikes are central to the American strategy in Broken Arrow. The Reaper and Gray Eagle share the same base cost of 110 and often perform similar roles.
The Reaper is much faster, trading Penetration for higher raw damage. Few vehicles can withstand its two missiles, and even fewer survive the blast. The Gray Eagle is slower but carries four missiles with greater Penetration, making it ideal for taking down heavily armored targets.
Infantry
Most American infantry comes equipped with the M4A1 rifle, designed for short- and mid-range engagements to clear the way for heavier units.
Delta Force
Urban combat revolves around capturing and defending buildings, and Delta Force is the best at doing exactly that. With flashbangs and combat shotguns, they dominate close-quarters building assaults, and once inside, grenade launchers and light machine guns help them hold off counterattacks.
Mechanized Riflemen Mechanized Riflemen play a role similar to Marine squads, but at half the cost. Their squad size is also halved, but they come with AA and MMG options, making them more adaptable.
A standard unit of Mechanized Riflemen has four rocket launchers, allowing them to easily handle armored threats once positioned. Ensure they remain well-supplied so they can keep firing rockets.
Vehicles
American vehicles are either heavily-armored tanks or fast troop transports. Using both types effectively is crucial to maintaining battlefield control.
M1A1 HC
There are multiple M1A tank variants available, and the HC offers the best value for cost versus performance. At 205 points, it's one of the more affordable heavy tanks, sacrificing only a bit of frontal armor. If you need the extra Penetration of the M1A2 series, it’s an option—but it costs between 35 to 75 more points.
Stryker ESV
The Stryker is ideal for early-game raids and holding objectives due to its low cost, high speed, and ability to carry most squad sizes. Deployed in groups, these vehicles and their M2 Browning machine guns can efficiently deal with infantry and light vehicles.
Support
The USA's support units consist mostly of artillery and anti-aircraft systems, while the Marines also provide amphibious vehicles for special tactical scenarios.
Patriot PAC-2
America has no shortage of air defense choices. The PAC-2 requires supply crates to stay armed, but few aircraft can survive its firepower. When securing airspace is essential, this is the system to use.
M109A6 Paladin
Paladin self-propelled howitzers are a versatile artillery choice, capable of launching laser-guided shells for precision strikes. When situations deteriorate—as they often do—they also mount a Browning machine gun for self-defense. The A6 variant is slightly cheaper than the A7, offering more range at the expense of mobility.
Helicopters
Helicopters bring massive destruction to nearly any target, provided they’re not intercepted by enemy air defenses.
AH-1W Supercobra
The Supercobra delivers much of the firepower of the pricier Viper and Longbow helicopters, at a fraction of the cost. It's also slightly faster than the Longbow, compensating for its slightly weaker machine gun.
It handles almost every threat adequately—saving the Viper and Longbow for critical missions may be the smarter move.
CH-47 Chinook
The Chinook is the ultimate transport helicopter in the U.S. arsenal. Its speed, cargo capacity, and seating allow rapid deployment of large units—if you have enough points saved up.
The risk is obvious: losing it mid-deployment could be devastating. If you commit all your forces at once, ensure the Chinook is protected.
Aircraft
Air superiority often decides matches in Broken Arrow, and the U.S. lineup demonstrates overwhelming aerial dominance.
F-22 Raptor
The Raptor has limited fuel, meaning it can't stay airborne for long, but while it's active, it dominates the skies. With a speed of 900 and decent Stealth for its class, it strikes before enemies even realize it's there. It easily takes down helicopters and jets, and might even get in a strafing run before returning to base.
A-10C Thunderbolt 2
Fixed-wing gunships lack the agility of attack helicopters, but make up for it with greater speed and deeper strike capability. Armed with machine guns and Sidewinder missiles, the Thunderbolt reaches its target quickly, where laser-guided Maverick missiles obliterate any vehicle caught in its sights.
B-2 Spirit
Surely, Broken Arrow wouldn’t let just one faction use a tactical nuke... would it? Turns out, they did. The B-2 Spirit is slow and extremely expensive, costing a staggering 1000 points to deploy. But if it reaches its destination, nothing remains standing. A tactical nuke seems excessive, but it's hard to argue with results—it ends a match decisively.
