Qualcomm redesigned the chip, naming it the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and had it manufactured by TSMC. Despite occasional rumors suggesting Qualcomm might return to Samsung Foundry, TSMC has remained the manufacturer for Qualcomm's key flagship AP.

Samsung Foundry has been focused on developing Sammy's own Exynos 2600 AP, intended for the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 flagships in certain markets next year. Built using Samsung Foundry's 2nm process node, the SoC is currently in prototype mass production. This represents a major test for Samsung Foundry, as achieving good yield rates and solid performance figures could position it to reclaim business from TSMC.
