Ghasts are among the earliest challenging mobs in Minecraft, not present from the very beginning but added not too long after. For many years, Ghasts were seen, if not as terrifying, then at least as annoying. Even for a well-equipped player, a single misstep and a hit from a Ghast could send you flying straight into the lava beneath.
However, not every Ghast should be viewed with suspicion; indeed, Happy Ghasts are here to improve the species' reputation. These tiny creatures aren't only cute (and they really are), but they can also be incredibly useful companions. They combine both aesthetics and utility in one neat package.
How To Craft Dried Ghast Blocks
Creating Dried Ghast blocks is fairly straightforward; however, acquiring one of the two required ingredients might prove somewhat difficult. Soul Sand will definitely be needed, and while obtaining that isn’t overly complicated, Ghast Tears can be trickier to collect.
Block | Ingredients |
---|---|
Dried Ghast | 8 Ghast Tears 1 Soul Sand |
How To Make A Happy Ghast
With your Dried Ghast Block in hand, it's time to bring out some water. Set up a small pool of water—a three-by-three space works well for this task. Submerge the Dried Ghast block in the water, and then simply wait.
If you notice green sparkles occasionally appearing above the Dried Ghast, you're on the right track. It may take more than fifteen minutes for the transformation to complete.
What To Do With Happy Ghasts
Happy Ghasts can be ridden using a Harness, which requires three Leather pieces, two Wool blocks, and one Glass to craft. Once equipped with the Harness, you'll be able to soar through the skies alongside your new companion.
When you hold a snowball in your inventory, Happy Ghasts will trail behind you faithfully.
The applications of Happy Ghasts are numerous, with one of the most practical being assisting in vertical construction. No longer must you rely on risky dirt towers or intricate scaffolding when you can just fly directly to where you need to go.
They’re also ideal for exploring, especially during nighttime. From above, you’ll get an aerial perspective of your surroundings, and at night, you'll remain safely aloft, away from most hostile mobs eager to make a meal out of you.
Additionally, you could even construct an elevator using a Happy Ghast, though whether you're comfortable keeping your cheerful companion confined like that is entirely up to you.
