Microsoft slows Windows 11 June 2025 Update rollout over issues
Jun 27, 2025 am 12:21 AMToday is June 10 (Patch Tuesday), and Microsoft has released new security updates for all supported Windows versions. Users on Windows 11 24H2 will receive update KB5060842, although it may not appear on all systems immediately. The rollout is being throttled as a revised version is being issued to some users. No manual action is required.
Microsoft has officially stated that the deployment of the June 2025 Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11 24H2 was temporarily halted after detecting "compatibility issues with certain devices." While the exact cause hasn't been disclosed, Microsoft confirmed to Windows Latest that a corrected version of KB5060842 has already been made available without any known issues.
“We identified a problem affecting a limited number of devices,” explained a Microsoft support representative. “This update [KB5060842] is currently being rolled out gradually to Windows 11, version 24H2 devices. A compatibility issue impacting a small subset of these devices has been identified.”
As a result, most users won’t see the June 2025 patch (KB5060842) within the next several hours.
“For affected devices, a revised version containing all June 2025 security enhancements will be delivered shortly,” the company added.
It's unusual for Microsoft to slow down the release of a security update, especially since such patches are typically classified as urgent or critical.
Although most elements of this update were previously tested through the Windows Insider Program and an optional preview released on May 28, a bug still managed to reach the stable channel and was only detected on the day of rollout—explaining why the patch rollout was throttled.
If you still don’t see the update by the end of the day, you can manually download KB5060842 from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
June 2025 Update for Windows 11 24H2 is a solid release
While the rollout continues, the June 2025 Update brings valuable improvements that enhance the overall Windows 11 24H2 experience. For example, Windows Latest found that the patch resolves an issue where input services like keyboard and mouse interactions could lead to memory leaks.
This might have caused performance stutters in popular games. Additionally, Microsoft addressed a problem where some games would become unresponsive right after installing Windows 11 24H2. This primarily affected users upgrading from 23H2 or 22H2, though we haven’t seen similar graphics kernel problems on Windows 10 unless specific drivers are involved.
Another notable change is the introduction of a firm 60-day limit for System Restore points in Windows 11 24H2. This means restore points will now remain available for up to 60 days. Previously, they could persist indefinitely as long as disk space allocated to System Restore wasn’t exceeded.

Additional features include the new drag-to-tray sharing interface introduced in this month’s patch. Keep in mind that many of these enhancements are being deployed progressively, so even after installing the update, not all new features may appear immediately.
