How to Create and Manage Reminders Without Ever Leaving the Calendar App on Your iPhone, iPad, or Mac
May 10, 2025 am 09:18 AMTired of juggling multiple apps for scheduling? Apple's latest iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia 15 updates seamlessly integrate Calendar and Reminders, allowing you to manage events and tasks from a single, streamlined interface.
This enhanced Calendar app now offers comprehensive Reminders integration. While you can still use both apps independently, the combined view provides a unified overview of appointments, meetings, and reminders. Create new reminders, edit existing ones, mark them complete, and quickly access them within the Reminders app—all within Calendar.
Creating Reminders in Calendar (iPhone and iPad):
- In the Calendar app (portrait or landscape), tap the " " button or long-press a date/time to create a new event.
- Select the "Reminder" tab to switch from event creation. (Note: Ensure Reminders isn't locked behind Face ID/Touch ID/Passcode, and that "Scheduled Reminders" is enabled in your calendars list.)
- Set the reminder title, list (defaults to your primary list), date, and time. Add details like notes, repetition, early alerts, tags, location, notifications, assignees, flags, priorities, images, or URLs as needed. The time is automatically set if you use the " " button or long-press a specific time; otherwise, it defaults to an all-day reminder.
- Tap "Add" to save.
Reminders appear in both Calendar and Reminders. In Calendar, they're indicated by an open checklist bullet; tap it to mark as complete. Completed or future instances of repeating reminders are dimmed. Tap or long-press a reminder to view details, edit, mark complete/incomplete, open in Reminders, or delete. Deleted reminders are accessible for 30 days in the Reminders app's "Recently Deleted" list.
To disable reminders in Calendar, toggle off "Scheduled Reminders" in your calendars list (this doesn't delete tasks from Reminders).
Creating Reminders in Calendar (Mac):
- Click the " " button, go to File ? New Event or Reminder, double-click, or right-click the calendar to create a new reminder. Switch to the "Reminder" tab if necessary.
- Add details as described above for iPhone/iPad. The time is automatically set depending on how you initiated the reminder.
- Click away or press Return to save.
Management of reminders on Mac mirrors the iPhone/iPad functionality, including viewing details, marking complete/incomplete, and deleting. To hide reminders in Calendar, uncheck "Scheduled Reminders" in your calendars list.
