Of the many Dateables there are in Date Everything, just as many are normal everyday objects as they are more out there. There are the simple things, like your kitchen chairs and sofa, and the more abstract and tangible, like your diary that has a personality that is a mix of their own and yours. This isn't even bringing in the literal concept of nightmares.
On the more standard side of things we have Kopi. Named after the rather unique process of Kopi Luwak coffee, Kopi is your coffee machine. And just like real life, it is a joy to wake up to a nice cup of coffee every morning. And it really does need to be a coffee every morning if you want to get to know Kopi.
How To Meet Kopi
Kopi can be met right at the beginning of the game when you get the freedom to explore, and that's the best method to employ in talking with her, too. It will take a while before you can complete her story, so it's best to meet her early. She is the coffee machine in your kitchen, which is found right beside the sink near the washroom. It is right up above the dishwasher, Dishy.
When awoken, Kopi won't have a story to follow immediately like most other Dateables. Instead, she just wants to offer you a coffee every day and give you a little bit of trivia on them. So for now, just enjoy the coffee and the learning experience it comes with.
Ordering Each of Kopi's Coffees
It may seem for quite a long time that Kopi simply doesn't have a story to share. You just drink her coffee and go about your day. However, every single character has an ending, and Kopi is no different. To get her ending, you need to drink all of her coffees and learn everything there is to know about them.
This can take quite a while, with there being three coffees, each of them with three questions to be asked. After asking every question, Kopi will turn around and ask you a question the next time you order a coffee, quizzing you on if you remember what she told you. As such, that means it would take a minimum of 13 meetings before you can get the ball rolling on Kopi's story. So let's get started so she doesn't trail behind.
Latte
The Latte is one of the first drinks Kopi offers to you, a staple of any coffee shop. After ordering it, you can ask her any of the available questions that you want, such as about Latte art, what makes a Latte a Latte, and so on. After you have asked all of the questions, Kopi turns the tables. The next time you order a Latte, she'll ask you a question.
Specifically, she will ask you what is the traditional design on a latte called. While you could just look it up, either by reading this guide or just searching the actual coffee, it's a nice sign to her to remember. Anyway, the answer is Rosetta. Kopi appreciates this, and lets you go about your day.
Affogato
Another of the early coffees Kopi can make you is the Affogato. Like the Latte, make sure you ask all of the questions each time you order it. These range from what does Affogato actually mean, to is it classified as a coffee or a dessert. Once you've asked all these questions, Kopi will take her chance to test just how much of her pieces of trivia you remember.
Her question is to tell her what Affogato means. If you've been paying attention to her, you'll know that the answer is 'drowned', because it is a scoop of ice cream (or gelato when done more authentically) that has been drowned in coffee. Cheery imagery! Happy with your answer, you both return to your daily lives.
Irish Coffee
After a few visits with Kopi for your daily coffee needs, she will introduce a brand-new coffee to the menu - the Irish Coffee. Which is, by her own admission, a rather unique type of coffee. Like the Latte and Affogato, drink enough Irish Coffee to get through all of your questions, such as why it needs to be made with Irish whiskey and why cream is added, and Kopi will take the chance to ask you a question of her own.
Her question is one pertaining to the flavour of Irish Coffee - why must it use Irish Whiskey as opposed to any other? This is because Irish Whiskey has a unique vanilla smoothness to it, which pairs well with the acidic nature of the coffee. Happy with your flavour awareness, Kopi thanks you and heads back to coffee crafting.
Getting Kopi Her Independence
After you have finally tasted all of Kopi's coffees, asked all the questions, and answered all of her questions, then finally, you can advance her personal story. Despite being the coffee machine of your home, she is actually subject of a larger coffee chain, which is somewhat tyrannical in how it treats her.
The general choices you make here won't strictly impact the outcome of Kopi's story, so choose the options that best reflect your own feelings. She speaks more of how she doesn't like feeling robotic, doing every order the same way and not being able to talk with customers about their coffee. It feels inhuman, and like it kills the soul of the job.
As these advance, you can finally tell Kopi to open up her own coffee shop. People buy the coffee here because of her personal touch, not because of the brand of her corporate overlord. She is making the coffee, not the company. She should strike it out on her own. And so that is exactly what she does.
And succeeds! The next time you speak with Kopi, she will be all smiles. Her customers fought for her right to independence, and even helped her convince her previous employer to let her take over the old shop as an independent. It's the best case scenario, really. Kopi is happy, her customers are happy, and hopefully you're happy too.
How To Change Your Relationship Status With Kopi
Like every other Dateable in the game, Kopi has three endings. It just takes quite a while to get there. Her story is split between two sections, so it comes as a mix of both when it comes to working out which ending you'll get. Here's how to get all three.
Love
To get a Love ending with Kopi, you need to be caring. Not just flirting with her, but supporting her. Remember the coffee facts she tells you and answer her questions correctly, and support her when it comes to establishing her independence. Praise her to the moon and back, basically. She will be a bit resistant to love at first, fearful of romancing one of her customers, but that fear is quickly assuaged.
Friends
To be friends with Kopi is much like being her Lover, and can be chosen as an ending if you meet the requirements of the Love ending already. Otherwise, it comes in being respectful and supporting her independence. You can even get all the coffee questions wrong as long as you're actually nice to her. You might not be soulmates, but you sure can be best friends.
Hate
If, for some reason, you want to have the person who makes you coffee hate you, then you'll be happy to know it's not all that difficult. You'll still have to drink a bunch of coffee and ask some questions, but just act uninterested afterwards. When it comes to her asking questions, just get them wrong. And most critically of all, don't support her independence. Treat her as expendable and that she's not even that good at making coffee. That's a surefire way to get her on the path towards hating your guts.
